Curing HIV One Genome at a Time

Editing the human genome has been a controversy from the start. Critics argue that CRISPR technology is not safe and effective enough, so research should be stopped to prevent unforeseen consequences. However, others argue that it could save and better many lives, so this technology should be used in research.

With HIV claiming over 25 million lives, it would seem like researchers should be given the green light to do whatever it takes to cure such a destructive disease because there is no cure for HIV and AIDS. Gene editing could give the precision that is needed to effectively remove or inhibit viral DNA from impacting healthy cells and be the cure to HIV.

This site will show you why it is important that research continues so children aren’t being born HIV positive and people aren’t losing their family from this disease anymore.
